And now, for something not Liam-related ...

A few days ago, I saw a call for fall-related photos from Mental Floss. I sent them a few of D's foliage pics from last fall and they were selected for use in an article about why leaves change color.

And, in case you missed it, a screen capture of D's picture on the Mental Floss homepage.

And then this happened ...

When we got back from our run, Liam was asleep in the stroller. I decided the spiders in the garage were too big to leave him there, so I moved him to his crib. When I went in to check on him a while later, this is what I found:

Cool Morning

Liam and I were up early* (D is off at a photography gig), so we bundled up and went for a run through the fog.

*Um, in reality, I was up early. Liam was trying to go back to sleep and I kept bugging him. That's when I decided I should probably go for a run. Once an annoying morning person, always an annoying morning person.

Day Care!

Liam went to day care for the first time today.

Yaaaaaaaay Day Care!!

He was very smiley as soon as we got there and is in a playgroup with three other boys, all under 6 months. The day care is very close to Damian's work, so he went over during his lunch to give Liam a bottle. He probably won't be doing that every day though, because it's too hard to leave him once a day, let alone twice!

But, come on. Look at that kid! Wouldn't you have a tough time walking away from that?

Bumbo Growth-o-Meter: Month Two

Our boy is growing like a weed. Here is the month two Bumbo shot:

And, check it. I almost captured the elusive smile on camera.

Some More August Pictures

Two Months!

Liam went to see the fantastical (and strikingly Matt Kennedy-esque) Dr. Leib today. Despite visual evidence to the contrary, they only measured him 1/2" longer than at his 1 month visit. I'm thinking the nurse might have mismeasured last month. This kid has definitely put on the length. Anyway, I know you're all anxious to update your box scores so here it is: 23" long, 11 pounds 13 ounces. Both are in the 51st percentile (Dr. Leib was impressed with the matching percentiles.)

Our kid is as average as average can be.

Month two found us falling even more in love with this kid. Though we still haven't managed to capture that quicksilver smile on camera, those who have come to visit this month can attest that it is heart-melting and breath-stealing.

And, oh! The visitors! Liam has had some very special visitors this month. Scott, Jonnett, and Jane Maurer, Amanda Meyer, Uncle Graham, Grandpa Phil, the Redman/Chambers family, Great Aunt Sue and Great Uncle Jim all came to visit in August. (I hope I didn't forget anyone ...)

Liam continues to take it easy on us. He's been a great sleeper from the beginning. From the first week, he only woke up twice at night. Sometime around sixish weeks, he dropped the 1am wake up and now only wakes up at 4 or 5. Which is a six- or seven-hour stretch. That, my friends, is sleeping through the night. FTW!

I went back to work last Thursday and it has been going very well. Of course, it really doesn't count since Damian has been home with him since I went back. The true test will be next Tuesday when our boy starts at day care. Dun dun DUUUNNNN. I'm glad we broke this into a two-step process, though. I could get used to being back at work before having to adjust to the idea of him at day care.

So that's pretty much it for month two. Liam continues to be an absolute delight. As I'm typing this, he's curled against the boppy in my lap, sleeping off the mild fever from his immunizations this morning (which he took like a champ).

Here are some pics from this month. If you haven't come to visit, do! Liam will sleep on your chest. I promise.

(OK, this is cheating. It's really from his first month. But, beautiful, RIGHT?)

First swim. Not the first time in that goofy hat.

With Scott. A pose they maintained for about three hours.

Crazy delicious, much like Mr. Pibb and Red Vines.

The indiscriminate chest-sleeper, taking advantage of Uncle Graham.

Telling Grandpa Phil a very important story.

I put him down for some tummy time and he promptly fell asleep.
