Nursery for Baby Dos Equis (not a reference to gender or beer. Really.)
Preparing for a second kid is so much easier than the first. We already have nearly everything we need for the room ... it's just a matter of wrestling it out of Liam's room.
Step one was to paint it. When the room was the upstairs guest room, the walls were painted a pretty fantastic elephant gray. D and I both loved the color, but wanted something brighter for the baby. Plus, a lot of the furniture we already have is brown. A big brown rocker/glider and ottoman in a gray room? Sounds like we're setting the kid up for some hefty therapy bills down the road.
Then I found this pillow and the rest is history. The walls are now the aqua blue of the leaves, we have the brown chair and changing table cover, and I just bought ~20 orange T shirts at Goodwill that I am going to make into a rag rug.
Enough preamble. Picture time.
Left to do:

D prepping the room. The swan song of the gray.
New vs. Old with bad color all around. The new color is not that blue (it's more of a turquoise) and the old color looks like the weird brownish purple that you get when you try to dye Easter eggs with food color.
Painting is finished, crib is reassembled.
Left to do:
- New crib mattress. The one Liam used is now in his toddler bed. The one in the picture up there came with the toddler bed and is covered in loud, crinkly plastic.
- Make the rug.
- Some sort of window shades. What you see there is an emergency trip to Target so the window would be covered for guests.
- Get LD a new dresser so we can swipe the dresser/changing table from his room.
- And, probably the hardest part, talk LD into letting us move the chair out of his room.
The New Kid
I think all of you know by now that Team Dockery has recruited a new member. We are expecting him or her** to join us at the end of April. The lack of belly pictures might suggest otherwise, but we are really, really excited.
**I know this will piss some of you off, but we are not finding out the sex. Again.
Here, in sort of chronological order, are the pictures we have so far:

Here, in sort of chronological order, are the pictures we have so far:
November 27, 2011. 19 weeks. Yes, that is toothpaste all over the mirror. (I was also taking some thank you pictures for a friend who send me some knitted goods. I don't normally wear gloves in the bathroom.)
December 6, 2011. 20 week ultrasound. Standing right next to me at the time is the only person in the world who knows whether this kid is a boy or a girl. Is it killing you?
January 8, 2012 (Today! It's like you're right here with me.). 24 weeks. Special sneak preview of the baby's room.

The Mind of a Toddler
We were watching the news this morning while Liam was having breakfast. He is kind of nutty about all things sports, and the following exchange took place when the sports highlights came on:
Liam: Dada! It's basketball!
Damian: Yep. Those are the Chicago Bulls.
L: Chicago Bulls?
D: Yes.
L: Chicago Plates?
D: (puzzled) Chicago Plates?
L: NO! Chicago BOWLS!!

Christmas 2011
Here are a few of my favorite photos from Christmas (general timeframe) this year.
LD catching snowflakes on his tongue
LD really liked helping put up the tree this year
He also really liked helping make the Christmas Cookies
Exploring his first real stocking
When asked which one he wanted to open first he replied "How about the big one?"
LD playing with a couple of toys Christmas morning
Uncle Graham got LD two great books that he hasn't put down
LD may have had a little too much egg nog Christmas night
Uncle Graham also bought LD a ball pit/tunnel/tent that he absolutely loves
Best(ish) of 2011
Picture dump! These are only the pictures from my (Ashley's) phone and camera, not D's. So it's really only half of the best of 2011, in no order whatsoever.
At the zoo with Addie Mae.
At the indoor playground last winter.
Reading with Uncle Graham on Christmas.
Tech savvy. He works the iPad better than I do.
Workin' the new (faux) crocs.
Blizzard-ready, February 2011.
Screaming while reading Skeleton Hiccups with D.
Having an animated conversation with a plastic caroler while we were searching for the Christmas tree.
Snowpocalypse!!!
Rolling down the hill.
If you're wondering what "cold" looks like ...
Tragic!
I think my glasses look better on him.
